Aardenburg is one of the oldest towns in Zeeland, with a history going back to Roman times. It lies south of Sluis, close to the Belgian border.
From our shop in Sluis: about 9 km.
The area
The country around Aardenburg is a little more enclosed than the open sea polders: more lines of trees, more small roads, and a few gentle rises that pass for hills in Zeeland.
The Belgian border runs right alongside, so a route to Maldegem or Bruges is easily made.
What you pass on the way
- The Sint-Baafskerk, one of the oldest churches in Zeeland
- The Roman archaeology of the town
