Knokke-Heist lies just over the Belgian border, some twelve kilometres from Sluis. Between Cadzand and Knokke is Het Zwin nature reserve, where the Dutch and Belgian junction networks meet.

The area
For a cyclist the border is barely noticeable: the paths carry straight on and the junction networks join up.
Behind the dunes of Knokke lies the Zwin, one of the few places where salt marsh and cycle path sit directly side by side.

From Sluis over Retranchement to the Zwin, on along the dunes of Knokke-Heist, and back through the polders via Westkapelle and Zuidzande.
